Our Investment Team consists of 10 investment professionals encompassing portfolio managers, analysts, risk management experts and traders.

Gerald E. Thunelius - Chief Investment Strategist

Mr. Thunelius has over 25 years of experience in the investment industry. In his capacity as Chief Investment Strategist, he sets the macro investment guidelines for the entire portfolio management team, and leads the team that provides portfolio risk management. As an industry veteran with extensive experience in fixed income portfolio management, trading and risk management, he brings a wealth of knowledge and a broad expertise to the firm.  Prior to joining the firm in 2013, Mr. Thunelius was the head of the fixed income investment teams at Dreyfus, Gartmore/Morley, Allianz-Oppenheimer Capital, TCP Global Investment Management, LLC, and Cutwater. Throughout his career, Mr. Thunelius has received top performance awards across various strategies including, Core, Core Plus, Strategic Global Income, and Low Duration strategies. He has been quoted in major publications regarding the economy and the markets including Barron’s, Fortune, and the Wall Street Journal. He has also served as a guest contributor to Forbes and has appeared on Bloomberg TV. Mr. Thunelius has a BA in Finance from Dowling College in Long Island, NY.

 

 

Michael T. Allen - Senior Portfolio Strategist

Mr. Allen has over 20 years' experience managing fixed income portfolios and setting investment strategy within a dynamic team based investment approach that focuses on global macroeconomic allocation and fundamental sector research, which is the model employed at Atlantic. Prior to joining the firm in 2014, Mr. Allen was a Senior Portfolio Manager and key member of the Core Fixed Income Management Teams at Dreyfus, Allianz-Oppenheimer Capital and TCP Global Investment Management, LLC where he was responsible for the Mortgage and Securitized Products Sector, as well as a pivotal member of the Global Macro Research Team. He holds an MBA in Finance from NYU's Stern School of Business and a BS in Business from the Pennsylvania State University. Mr. Allen is a member of the CFA Institute and The New York Society of Security Analysts.

 

 

Elaine S. Hunt, CFA - Managing Director

Ms. Hunt has been in the investment management industry for over 30 years. With her breadth of knowledge of investments, risk management and corporate administration, she has a leadership role within the firm monitoring the management of portfolios, working closely with clients, and assisting the President and CEO in the management of the firm. Prior to joining Atlantic, Ms. Hunt was a Special Partner and Manager of Fixed Income Services at Weiss, Peck & Greer from 1989 to 1992 and a Senior Investment Consultant at William M. Mercer Asset Planning, Inc. from 1985 to 1989. She received an MBA from the University of Chicago in 1985 and graduated cum laude with a BA in economics from Beloit College in 1983. Her commitment to education continues, as she is currently a graduate student at New York University, pursuing a Master's degree in Psychology; studying the influence of heuristics and biases in decision-making.

 

 

E. Clifford Cole - Executive Director, Investments

Mr. Cole has been in the investment industry for over 30 years and brings an extensive investment expertise to the firm. At Atlantic, he leads the credit and structured product portfolio managers and analysts. Prior to joining Atlantic, he was with JP Morgan Asset Management. During his tenure at JP Morgan, he served as head of the corporate bond investment team from 1995 to 1999, and leader of the private placement structured investment team from 1990 to 1995. Prior to joining JP Morgan, Mr. Cole began his career with the New York Life Insurance Company’s Investment Department where he held a position as an analyst in credit research. Mr. Cole received an MBA with Distinction from Cornell University in 1980 and a BA in Biological Science from the University of Delaware in 1976.

 

 

Michael L. Dineen, CFA, CPA - Senior Vice President, Corporates

Mr. Dineen has a dual role within the firm serving as a corporate analyst and portfolio manager of the firm’s Opportunistic Credit Strategy, which is among the firm’s best performing strategies. Mr. Dineen joined Atlantic from the AXA/MONEY group in New York where he served as Managing Director/Portfolio Manager for corporate bonds and private equity from 1993 to 2005. While there, he received five Lipper #1 ranking fund awards. He was also a Senior Investment Analyst and Co-Manager of high yield bonds at General Electric Investment Corporation, Stamford, CT from 1987 to 1993 and held audit positions with Pitney Bowes, Inc. and Deloite Haskins & Sells, in Stamford, CT from 1984 to 1987. Mr. Dineen earned an MBA in Finance from Sacred Heart University in 1993 and a BA in Accounting from Pace University, New York in 1984. He received a CFA designation in 1994 and is a graduate of the GE Financial Management Program. He was a member of the Investment Advisory Board for Lehman Brothers Merchant Banking Fund II and Parthenon Capital L.P.; Board Member of the Stamford CFA Society; Chairman, University Relations and Member of the Connecticut Society of CPAs and a member of the Association of Petroleum Investment Analysts. Mr. Dineen is an Adjunct Professor at both the University of Connecticut and Sacred Heart University. He also serves on the Sacred Heart University Business Advisory Council.

 

 

Steven C. Arnone - Vice President, Trading

Mr. Arnone has over 15 years of fixed income investment experience and is responsible for all trading aspects of the firm. He is also responsible for duration and cash management for fixed income portfolios. Mr. Arnone has extensive knowledge in investment grade corporates, fixed and equity derivative products, as well as the ability to assess relative value across industry sectors. Mr. Arnone joined Atlantic in 1996 from the Putnam Trust Company where he served as an Officer in the Trust Division for high net worth individuals. Prior to working at Putnam, he was a member of the Sales and Operations team of Gilford Securities, an affiliate of Prudential. He earned an MBA from Sacred Heart University in 2000 and a BA in Economics from the University of Connecticut in 1991.

 

 

Sara W. Roche - Vice President, Risk Management

Ms. Roche began her career at Atlantic in 2003 as a Portfolio Administrator. During her tenure, she has gained extensive experience in the areas of corporate credit analysis and market strategy, this knowledge, coupled with her experience in portfolio administration (operations), enables Ms. Roche to provide unique and important guidance in the management of client portfolios. In her current position, Ms. Roche is responsible for monitoring the overall risk profile of the portfolios and overseeing the duration and curve positioning targets as dictated by the firm's Strategy team. Ms. Roche graduated from Vassar College in 2003 with a dual BA in mathematics with Honors and Studio Art.

 

 

Christian Comito - Vice President, Structured Products

Mr. Comito has over 10 years of experience as a structured products analyst. He began his career in the Operations Department of Atlantic in 2000 and is currently a CMBS Analyst and Structured Products Trader.  In this role, Mr. Comito confers directly with the Portfolio Managers and works collaboratively with the investment team to determine which products will comprise the structured product component of the firm’s portfolios.  His primary area of expertise is in the CMBS sub-sector.  Mr. Comito received a BS in Finance from Sacred Heart University, Connecticut in 2000 and is currently a Level 2 CFA candidate.

 

 

Jamie S. Pratt - Vice President, Corporates

Ms. Pratt is a Corporate Analyst at Atlantic where she covers financial institutions, telecom/media, and food and beverage companies. Included among those issuers are domestic, European and emerging market companies. She is also responsible for monitoring exposure and identifying buy and sell opportunities based on fundamentals and macro and industry events. Ms. Pratt’s prior experience includes positions as a Policy Analyst and Speechwriter for the New York City Administration for Children’s Services and as a Legal Assistant in the Capital Markets Group at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy.
